Summer 2005

Summer 2005
At the end of July, I visited The Romance Writers of America conference in Reno, Nevada.  My, that was fun, as the Americans say.  Wall to wall workshops from 8.30 in the morning right through to late  evening.  Breakfast on the hoof, Luncheon speakers, charity signings, the four day conference was packed with interest and events.  I loved the Awards Ceremony where they handed out RITAs and GOLDEN HEARTS.  It took place in a huge theatre, large enough to accommodate the 2,000 strong audience.  Breathless excitement, squeals of delight from the winners, followed by the usual thank you's and tears.  It was just like the oscars.  The RWA also gave a screening of slides taking us through their first 25 years, showing the founders and other conferences, plus a most entertaining video of the main events associated with each decade.  Best of all, the presenters for each award were brought on stage in a white stretch limo.  Brilliant Fun!

Here I am at the signing session, selling books in aid of Literacy in America.  Great fun!  I was in good company, with the likes of Nora Roberts.  Wow!

Following this exhausting few days I was more than ready to enjoy a few relaxing days of holiday with David in San Francisco.  What a beautiful city.  I hope to put some pictures of these events next time.

It's quite exciting that my books are now available in America, distributed by Trafalgar, and of course through Amazon.com.  It will be interesting to see if the Americans take to the nostalgia of living British history.  My period romances, published by Severn House in the UK, are published in the US by St Martin’s Press and available in public libraries.
